Independent Feature Film

ROLE: Production Designer
DURATION: 2005-2010

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The squeaky-clean daughter of a "family values" preacher becomes a national political sensation and falls in love with her spin doctor -- another woman.

Over the course of five years, I worked with director Andy Kirshner on the development, fundraising, and execution of a campy movie musical. We worked together on creating three proof of concept shorts to demonstrate to funders the general style of the film. I read over countless drafts and provided input on set designs and the feasibility with each iteration. I helped with social media campaigns and promotion.

When the project was finally green lit, we shot in (2) two-week periods, spaced apart by six months. This created the challenge of continuity between the script days and required diligent note taking. My crew consisted of college student interns, who provided on-set help on the days with major setups. In addition to set and props design, I headed the costume department, working with a college student who took over a majority of the tasks for the first half of the shoot but was unavailable for the second. I also played a blink and you miss it bit part towards the middle of the film.

The film debuted at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor, MI and was shown in film festivals throughout the country and internationally.
